Naxos is an island that fortunately has not yet been conquered by mass tourism, at least not to the level of Mykonos or Santorini. As a result, on the island there are still not many mega structures that distort the authentic and genuine atmosphere typical of the Cyclades islands. The number of big hotels can be counted on the fingers of one hand, to the benefit of a large number of small hotels or guest houses, apartments or studios, or simple rooms rented by the locals. In fact, Naxos has 3 5 star hotels, and only 10 4 star hotels. Here are the best areas and hotels in Naxos.
Choosing the area where to stay in Naxos depends mainly on the type of holiday you want to take. If you want to explore the island during the day and sleep in a place where you can spend pleasant evenings, with different options of restaurants and bars, then the best place is undoubtedly the Chora. There are a lot of taverns where you can taste the excellent dishes of the Greek cuisine; bars where you can have an aperitif or drink something after sunset; small discos for those who are looking for a little bit of nightlife.
During the low and mid season (May to June and September to October) I recommend always checking the prices of the 5 and 4 star hotels. They usually have good prices (compared to other areas in Europe) with excellent services, for a unique holiday.
The Agios Georgios area is another interesting area to stay near the capital of Naxos. In fact, many consider it a district of the capital. In fact, the center can be reached on foot in a few minutes and then there is the huge advantage that is in front of the beach of the same name. Excellent to sleep a few steps from the sea, have breakfast in one of the bars / restaurants on the beach and take a walk to the center.
If you are looking for quiet places, away from the crowds, you can stay in one of the small coastal resorts that are born from the many beaches of the island. Surfers know the spots of Naxos well: obviously, Mikri Vigla is the main one.
The number of nights to spend in Naxos can be between 3 and 5, depending on how much you want to tour the island and enjoy the attractions, beaches and villages it offers.
There are many things to do and see in Naxos: traditional villages, Byzantine churches, Venetian towers, as well as relaxing and sunbathing on one of the wonderful beaches that have made Naxos famous all over the world.
