We Have Destroyed Gomukh at Gangotri Glacier: Yes You Read it Right

We are going to be the only reason for destroying our own environment. The greatest gift on Earth for us is the Himalayas, but we are unable to take care of it and that’s why today we are losing one of the important parts of our country, the main source of the river Ganga, the Gomukh in Gangotri Glacier

Current status of Gangotri Gomukh region

The ‘Gomukh’ section of Gangotri Glacier has been destroyed. It may go back from some meters to some kilometers from its previous location. The landscape is continuing till now. The River Bhagirathi has changed its direction of flow and now flowing through its right bank and landsliding is continuing that side. So it’s not possible to rich Gomukh through that side and it is not possible to describe total destruction just now. All the trek through that route has been stopped and canceled except the expedition group and army.

But the recovery work has been started. Now everyone has to cross the river through ‘Jhula’ from Bhujbasa but it may take at least a month to open the new route.

From the last update, we came to know that trekker can go up to Gomukh but they are not allowed to go beyond that point to Tapovan.
