Saalumarada Thimmakka, a 103 Years Old Woman Planted & Cared For 384 Trees

This 103-Year-Old Woman Planted And Cared For 384 Trees, While Living In Abject Poverty Herself.

Saalumarada Thimmakka who lives in a small village called Hulikal village of Karnataka. She is a 103 years old living inspiration to this selfish World where people kill plants, trees for their own purpose, making industries and more money.

Her story is so strong that you should think for a while that everyone has some work to done in this world, everyone should give something to mother earth in return of its lively nature.

Well, Saalumarada Thimmakka as a young girl was married. Her husband was a farmer who made a limited income. He broke the social protocol of the village and not fathering a child with his wife. But they decided to plant lots of trees and care them, love them as their own children.

They were nurturing 10 grafted saplings on a land which is 4 kilometer from their village. The exact location is between Hulikal and Kudoor village which is 80 km away from Bangalore. They have very limited economic resources for taking care of the trees but they never gave up. They planted more trees in the following years in the hope to make a beautiful healthy land.

Believe it or not today, those fully grown banyan trees are maintained by Karnataka Goverment and they are at an economic value of Rs. 15 Lakh.

Saalumarada Thimmakka was awarded by national organizations and many states. But unfortunately she is still living below the poverty line. All here bills remain unpaid and her income is Rs. 500 which is government pension. Even her home has no space to accommodate those medals and certificates.

She adopted her son and she inspired him to be passionate about the nature and environment. Here belief is that every people should leave behind some of their assets that benefits all humanity and she still spreading this awareness to the people. Saalumarada Thimmakka hasn’t given up on her dreams, her hopes and her aspiration yet.
