Besides, you will not have to share your traveling experience with co-passengers if you do not want and need some space or some solo time. Okay, enough of this. We will leave the options for you decide.

However, the next question that will pop up in your head soon is which is the fastest route to reach Standsted Airport.

The Fastest Route To Travel From London to Stansted

Well, it all depends on from which part of London are you traveling from. You can always seek Google for directions. However, there are a few things that you will need to remember though –

  • CM24 1RW is the London postcode
  • London Stansted is situated just off the M11 motorway
  • When driving from London, use the Junction 8a to reach Stansted. If you are approaching Stansted from Cambridge side, then take the Junction 8. It would be easy to follow signs of the airport from here.

Taking the M11 Motorway

The M11 motorway is actually a long slip of connected roads that you can use to travel from London to Cambridge and vice-versa. The slip roads that begin from either London or Cambridge will join on to the Northern Circular – the one that is generally used by people traveling to the West or the East. The road to the East goes right down to London City Airport. So the motorway is the preferred choice for people driving to Stansted airport.

You would encounter a few junctions and a few other motorways such as M25. Please note the M11 can be directly taken from the north-east or you can take the M11 route via the M25 from the south and west.

The M25 is a two-motorway intersection. The M11 will lose a lane and will regain only after the intersection. After the M25, you will reach another junction. This junction is somewhat isolated and the other two junctions located on either side will be atleast 10 miles away. The Standsted Airport is located near this junction.

If you are using Google Navigator, you would find most of the directions taking the M11 motorway. You should know that the M11 route is however is restricted for limited usage only.

Taking the A120

It is very important to learn about the roads if you are driving. Such as it is very easy to reach the airport if you are taking the M11 Junction 8 and then the A120.

The A120 forms the east-west route that takes you across the middle of the country, linking Stansted Airport with Colchester, which is the port of Harwich, as well as M11 and A12.

The best part about the A120 is that it helps to cover up a lot of distance and time (especially by linking M11 and A12 in one shot). There are only a few grade-separated junctions. You would notice a motorway-style rest area along the way near Great Dunmow.

Deciding upon which route to take will require you to learn a bit about the roads. This would help to cut short the time for you to reach the airport. We hope we have covered enough to provide you with a proper guide.
