Best Time of the Year to Visit the Cayman Islands and Things to Do

The Cayman Islands consist of three islands: the Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and the Little Cayman. The Grand Cayman is by far the most famous island where you can find the best beaches, best hotels, exciting nightlife, and entertainment for all tastes.

Regarding the best time to visit the Cayman Islands, there can be only one answer – always. That’s because it is warm and sunny all year long. However, some months are slightly different than others.

When visiting January to February

January to February is not peak season, but at the same time, don’t expect to find any empty beaches. It can get somewhat windier than in other months, which makes those months specific. Because of that, some activities such as parasailing get canceled from time to time. On the other hand, if you are not into such activities and only want to enjoy the top Cayman beaches, you won’t have any issues with the weather.

When Visiting March to April

These are the busiest months as it is spring break in the US. As a result, many families are spending their vacations there. It’s far less windy during this period, and it is somewhat warmer. As far as activities are concerned, pretty much every activity on the island is possible, from scuba diving to duty-free shopping in George Town.

When Visiting May to August

These are the summer months in the Cayman Islands. Even though these months fall in the rainy season, rain is not common on these islands throughout the year, despite the season. Compared to winter months, the sea temperature is somewhat warmer. Some of the best activities include exploring the underwater sculptures at Cayman Brac, swim around stingrays, explore skull cave, explore the crystal caves, snorkel at devil’s grotto, and so on.

When Visiting September to November

September to November is the so-called “slow season” in the Cayman Islands. Typically, hotels and resorts are cheaper from September to November as there are fewer tourists. Some restaurants and hotels are even closed during this period. September to November is hurricane season in that part of the world, and that’s why there aren’t too many tourists. As far as the available activities, it is best to contact the companies that organize those activities and make sure they operate during that period.

When Visiting in December

During the first two weeks of December, it is not that busy. However, during the second half of December, things take off as hordes of tourists flood the Cayman Islands. The weather is perfect, then there is Christmas and New Year, which all draw a large number of tourists. Regarding available activity, everything that we’ve mentioned that’s available during the summer months is possible during December as well.

But due to the massive interest in vacationing in the Cayman Islands during this period, prices tend to soar quite a bit. Nevertheless, many folks can afford that and love spending time vacationing in the Cayman Islands.
