A Quick Guide To Eating Out In London

London is known for its multiculturalism and is the foodie capital of the UK, home to cuisines from across the world.

Whether you’re in the mood for Chinese food or American, gastro-British or elegant French, you’ll find it in London town, where food from every corner of the globe rubs shoulders side by side.

However, with this expansive choice comes the difficulty in deciding where to eat so, with that in mind, we’ve created a quick guide to eating out in London. Just remember, however, that this list is by no means comprehensive and you’ll often find some of the best restaurants just by following your nose!

Quick Guide To Eating Out In London

Italian

For those of you looking for an Italian treat, look no further than Bella Cosa. This fine dining restaurant in Canary Wharf is home to a whole range of dishes, varying from relaxed light bites to traditional haute cuisine, all situated in the glittering business district.

You’ll find dishes using the finest fresh produce and authentic, Mediterranean flavours.

Sushi

Sake no Hana is renowned both in the capital and across the world for its modern, authentic take on Japanese dining. It provides a selection of charcoal grill, toban and kamameshi dishes but the absolute highlight is the freshly prepared sushi and sashimi.

Located in swish Mayfair, the food is only matched in elegance by the interior design.

Tapas

For a real taste of tapas as it should be eaten, head to José Tapas Bar on Bermondsey Street. Small, cosy, and mostly standing room only, you’ll get an authentic taste of tapas as it would be eaten in the traditional tapas bars of Andalucía.

The daily menu is made up of whatever looks good on the market that day, with a mix of traditional and modern.

American

The Blues Kitchen is as big, bold and American as you can get, with a fleet of restaurants across the capital. Taking influence from the USA in both its food and its atmosphere, you’ll find barbecue, burgers, and southern flavours taking centre stage.

Plus, you can enjoy all of this alongside live music and a huge selection of malt whiskeys.

British

If you’re looking for a quintessential British pub that serves up superb gastronomical delights, then The Harwood Arms is the one for you. As the only Michelin-starred pub in London, you’ll find a focus on the best British produce in a casual setting.

Located in trendy Fulham, be prepared for lots of game and wild food!

Thai

Esarn Kheaw was the first restaurant to open in London specialising in the cuisine of North East Thailand and has been serving up fantastic food ever since. Since 1992, the restaurant has garnered a dedicated following, so finding a seat may be a struggle!

From a quick bite at lunch to a full Thai feast, you’ll find the favourites alongside some dishes you’re likely to never have heard of.

Mexican

Located in the heart of Brixton Market, the family-run eatery Casa Morita has bags of character and even more flavour. Although it may look a tad shabby, you won’t find more authentic Mexican food anywhere else in the city.

With a brief but delicious menu, you’ll find tacos, totopos, tostadas and more.

Caribbean

From the creator of Reggae Reggae sauce and Dragons’ Den star, the Levi Roots Caribbean Smokehouse is your one-stop shop for all things Caribbean. Infusing his British and Jamaican heritage into one delicious menu, you’ll find flavourful classics and modern twists side by side.

It’s also a great choice for those with dietary requirements, with a specific menu for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and Rastafari ital food.
