The State Park is located 94 miles outside of the New York City. It sits on the Shawangunk Ridge, is 2000 ft. above sea level, and surrounded by rocky terrain. The place is spacious enough, allowing campaigners to hike, ride bikes, and enjoy the view.
This campground is noted it’s scenic beauty and has been the filming location for many Hollywood blockbusters like Iron Man and Gladiator. This location is flanked by the Inyo Mountain on one side and the Sierra Nevada on the other side. You could take your pets here but you will need to check which of the places are open for setting up camps. The authorities only allow to camp on marked sites. Also check whether special permits are required now.
This place is short drive from Washington D.C. and boasts 500 miles of trials, which include an eight-mile hike up the Old Rag Mountain, which is a favorite hiking trail for avid hikers. The park also features plenty of waterfalls and forests. Visitors can choose from five campgrounds, which are open in Spring, Summer, and Fall.
