A Hike to the Yosemite National Park
Of the four million visitors who visit USA, most of them spend more time here. In fact, it is said to be the third most visited national park, boasting around 1,200 square miles of wilderness.
The national park is located in the East Central California and sits on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. At only eight miles long and one mile wide, the region is packed with jaw dropping sceneries that are very rare to the traveler’s eyes.A hike through Yosemite will take you through –
- Yosemite Falls
Witness the dramatic Yosemite Waterfall, which is the highest waterfall in North America and the sixth largest in the world. It is about 2,424 feet and is located in the Central Sierra mountain range of California. It’s a major tourist attraction but the popularity increases in the late spring when the snowmelt flowing vigorously is really dramatic to watch.
- Half Dome
This Granite dome-shaped formation is the most popular rock formation of Yosemite. The rock majestically rises above the valley floor and scales about 4,737 feet.
- El Capitan
Yosemite is also about the beauty of wilderness. Very few vertical rock formations are as challenging as the El Capitan. Scaling a height of 3,000 feet from bottom to top, the most popular hiker’s spot to a traveler is the Nose, the projecting front part.
- Yosemite Valley
Known as a glacial valley, it is about eight miles long and one mile deep carved out by the 145 mile long Merced River. The valley view also offers an amazing vantage point to visitors. It is situated near the park exit and travels west on Northside Drive.
